Are smart key cabinets secure?

For most applications, there are strict processes and policies for the access of physical keys. Only measures that comply with these policies and processes can be considered as the basic premise of security. When the surrounding security environment or threats change, our definition and thinking of security will also be different. Therefore, security is defined relative to the environment of the protected object or a specific object and can resist various degrees of threats. At present, what will be the security of physical keys? In other words, what kind of physical key protection method is safe? Obviously, the key hanging plate or key box can no longer meet the premise of safety. Most smart key cabinets in the market have made similar efforts to keep physical keys secure. We might as well take landwell smart key cabinet as an example.

Physical security – Smart key replaces traditional key

Landwell’s approach is to permanently fix the key or key set on the RFID key fobs with a tamper-proof security seal – a strong and durable long cylinder with a unique identifiable electronic chip. The key fobs must be locked in the key slot in the key cabinet and can only be removed by an authorized user.

Process security – User authentication

Landwell electronic key cabinet is a complete storage and control solution. It is an electronically controlled steel cabinet that restricts access to keys and can only be opened by authorized personnel using PIN code, biometric fingerprint, face recognition, or card reader authentication. We can manually control which credentials users must use to enter the system by turning on or off an option.

Higher security – Multi authentication

For sensitive assets, areas, and physical keys with more stringent access requirements, landwell electronic key cabinet supports multiple users to verify their identities at the same time before removing the keys. For example, the key to the safe in the accounting room requires at least two people from the cashier, accountant, or treasurer to remove it together.

Key tracking – Event reports and alert

Through the electronic key cabinets, every event is recorded, generating more responsible users, and complete visibility for your keys and assets.
